Introduction
The Trust has been founded with the basic purpose of serving the elderly and the underprivileged. The broader program includes healthcare, education and advocacy for socially desirable causes. Old age is a cruel thing. People, as they age, are stripped of their mobility, independence and dignity. The quality of their life is seriously compromised, which tends to make them depressed or bitter, not helping their cause in any way.
There is practically a consensus on urgent need for well-planned and humanely run Care Centers for the elderly and physically challenged persons. The need for such homes has not only already arisen but also is growing at a continuously accelerating pace owing to multiple reasons. More prominent of these reasons are persisting widespread poverty, changes in the socio-economic scene like improvement in human longevity, greater geographical mobility of people leading to increasing migration of the young and ambitious to foreign countries, gradual breaking down of the traditional joint family system, more women taking up employment and increasing materialism and last but not the least the fact that never before such a large number of middle aged adults had living and aging parents to look after along with their own family. On top of that the society is more competitive today than ever before and they are stretched for time, resources, stamina and patience between expectations of the parents and their limitations. In short, increasing longevity, although welcome, poses serious challenges for the individuals as well as the society as a whole. Many families are unable or incapable of taking adequate care of the elderly, thus requiring some institutional care and support system. We believe that the society owes attention and support to them as they are often dependent, lonely and vulnerable. In this background, the priority focus of the Trust is on care and rehabilitation of Senior Citizens and/or physically challenged persons.
